Woods
wins 501 primary, picks up endorsements
Patrick Woods,
already endorsed by Governor Kathleen Sebelius and the
National Education Association, Topeka, received nearly 50
percent of the primary vote, a solid achievement in a three
way race.
“The support from the community has been really great,”
Woods said. “Topeka wants a strong voice for our schools,
and I think my experience and vision speaks volumes.”
Woods, a new father and husband of a teacher, has a
personal stake in the success of Topeka area schools.
Centering his campaign around his hands-on experience in
the Sebelius administration, emphasis on financial
accountability, support of increased teacher pay and
expanded early learning opportunities, Woods is off to a
strong start heading into the general election.
With Election Day just weeks away, Woods must now turn his
attention to the city-wide electorate. “I’ve been out,
hitting the pavement and introducing myself to the
community,” Woods said. “In a school board race, knowing
where a candidate stands on the issues is of the utmost
importance. That’s why I want to make myself accessible –
whether it’s in your neighborhood, through a flier, or on
the web.”
Most recently, Woods received the endorsement of Kansas
Families United for Public Education. For the details of
that endorsement, and to view Patrick or his opponent’s
responses to their questionnaire, please visit

Topekans will have a chance to vote in the 501 School Board
race on April 3rd,
along with electing members of the Topeka City Council.
